Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs:

Love: We believe that love for one another as Jesus loves the believer manifests our discipleship, proves our love for God and symbolizes our authority as a New Testament church. Love is therefore the great commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ upon which all others are dependent. (Scripture References: Matthew 22:35,40 *John 13:34, 15:12 *1John 4:7-21, 5:1-3 *Revelation 2:2,5)

Godhead-The Trinity: We believe that there is one and only one living and true God. An infinite, intelligent spirit, maker and Supreme ruler of Heaven and Earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Each of the three entities are equal in power, in deity, and in authority. (Scrip Ref: Genesis 1:1, 17:1 *Exodus 3:14, 6:3, 20:2-3, 15:11 *Psalm 83:18, 90:2, 147:5 *Jeremiah 10:10 *Matthew 16:16, 28:19 *Mark 1:1, 12;30 *John 4:24, 10:30, 15:26, 17:5 *Acts 5:3,4 *Romans 11:23 *1Corinthians 8:6, 12:4-6, 10-11 *2Corinthians 13:14 *Ephesians 2:18, 4:6 *Philippians 2:5-6 *2Timothy 1:17 *1John 5:7-8 *Revelation 4:1)

Holy Spirit We believe in the eternal Deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who is one of the three Persons of the Trinity. We believe the following are among His ministries: the restraining of evil in the world to the measure of the divine will; the conviction of the world regarding sin, righteousness, and judgement; the calling and regeneration of all believers; the indwelling of those who are saved; and the continued filling for power, teaching, and service of all among the saved who are truly yielded to Him. (Scrip Ref: Romans 8:9,28, 29 *1Corinthians 1:24 *2Thessalonians 2:7 *John 3:6, 16:7-11 *Ephesians 4:30, 5:18) We believe the Holy Spirit produces His fruit in the lives of all believers (Galatians 5:22, 23 *Colosians 1:10,12)

Deity of Christ: We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, that He was supernaturally begotten by the Holt Spirit, born of a virgin, and that He is completely God and man at the same time. That He is the only begotten Son of God. Therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ is the sinless, omnipotent, omniscient, Savior of sinners, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Scrip Ref: Matthew 1:20-21  *Luke 1:35-36, 2:10-11 *John 1:14, 3;16 *1John 4:9)

Sinless Humanity of Christ: We believe that the eternal life of Jesus Christ was spent free from sin and defilement. He was not only sinless in nature but also in deed, in thought, and performance, which qualify Him to be the only Savior of all mankind as no other person has ever or will ever meet the just demand of God for a sinless substitute. (Scrip Ref: John 8:46, 18:38 *Matthew 17:5)

Atoning Death of Christ: We believe that when Jesus gave His life on Calvary that he did it for all mankind and declared that those who trust Him as Savior will be righteous in the sight of God. Only through his precious blood can come the remission of all sins. (Scrip Ref: John 3:16, 10:17-18, *Romans 5:1 *Hebrews 9:22-28)

Resurrection of Christ: We believe the literal, bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ took place 3 days (72 hours) after His death on the cross. The resurrection declares that He is indeed the Son of God, as He is the only one who has or ever will rise from the dead by His own power. Christ’s ability to rise from the dead by His own power gives us assurance that He will also resurrect those who trust Him for salvation in the resurrection of the just to eternal Heaven. Those who do not trust Him he will also raise to eternal damnation in the lake of fire. (Scrip Ref: Matthew 28:1-10Mark 16:1-6 *Luke 24:1-7, 36-45 *John 11:25-26, ch20-21 *1Corinthians 15:1-8, 51-57 *1Thessalonians 4:13-18 *Revelation 20:11-15)

Ascention of Christ: We believe in the personal bodily ascension of Jesus Christ to Heaven after the resurrection. Christ sits in Heaven at God’s right hand as our Intersessor and Great High Priest. Christ’s sitting declares the finished work of redemption. (Scrip Ref: Mark 16:19-20 *Luke 24:49-53 *Acts 1:8-11)

Sin Nature and Depravity:
We believe man was created in the image of God; that he voluntarily sinned and therby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death. Man’s sinful nature separates him from God and sentences him to an everlasting abode in Hell. All human beings are born with a sinful nature and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility – become sinners by choice and practice, in thought, word and deed. Sin creates a debt in which no man can pay for himself. (Scrip Ref: Genesis 1:26-27 *Psalm 51:5 *Romans 3:23, 5:12 *1Corinthians 11:7)

Salvation and Security:
We believe that the moment a believer puts his/her trust in Christ, he/she is born into the family of God, and instantaneously becomes a son of the living God. The believer is redeemed by the Lord’s purchase price paid for us, and is then preserved in Christ. The believer is forever secure in Christ, possesses everlasting eternal life, and is sealed by the Holy Spirit for eternity. (Scrip Ref: John 5:24, 10:28-29 *Romans 8:38-38 *Ephesians 1:13, 4:30)

Point of Salvation: We believe salvation is received when a person freely, honestly, sincerely, consciosly, and deliberately repents (turns from sin and changes heart and mind about God) and places their faith (trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. (Scrip Ref: John 1:12 *Acts 20:21 *Romans 10:9-10 *Ephesians 2:8-9)

Baptism: We believe each person trusting in Christ as Savior should promptly make a public profession. Each new believer should follow the Lord’s command for a believer’s baptism. Such scriptual baptism is always by immerson under the authority of a local New Testamemnt Church. Baptism does not save. It is the Lord’s precribed way for us to identify ourselves with Him in open confession. Baptism is a symbolic representation, a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Scrip Ref: Matthew 10:32-33, 28:18-20 *Luke 9:23 *Acts 16: 30-34 *Romans 10:9-10)

The Local New Testament Church: We believe Jesus Christ established his Church during his ministry on earth. It is a local, visible assembly of soundly saved, scriptually baptized believers in covenant (sacred commitment, agreement)relationship, to carry out the great commission. Each church is an independent, self-governing body, and that no ecclesiastical body or association shall have any authority over it. Jesus gave the great commission to the New Testament Church, and He promised perpetuity (continuance) of His churches. (Scrip Ref: Matthew 4:18-22, 16:18, 28:19-20 *Ephesians 3:21)

Church Ordinances: We believe that the Lord Himself gave the church two pictorial ordinances: Baptism and The Lord’s Supper. We believe the sacred use of (unleavened) bread and the (unfermented) fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ preceded always by solemn self-examination. We believe that baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church. It demonstrates a solemn and beautiful representation our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior with it’s effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. It is prerequisite to the privelages of a church relationship. (Scrip Ref: Matthew 3:6, 3:16, 28:19-20 *John 3:23 *Acts 2:41-42, 8:12, 8:36-49, ch38 *Romans 6:3-5 *1Corinthians 5:11-13, 11:23-29 *Colosians 2:12)

Pastor and Deacon Qualifications: We believe the two offices of the Local New Testament Church are Pastor and Deacon. These offices are to be held strictly by men who meet qualifications given in Scripture. The office of Pastor (including Associate, Youth) or Deacon should be held by men with exceptional character, proven faithful in all other mandates set forth. (Scrip Ref: Malachi 2:16 *Matthew 19:9 *1Corinthians 7:1-11 *1Timothy 3:1-16 *Titus 1:3-16 *1Peter 5:1,3)

Believer’s Separation: We believe that all believers are called into a life of personal separation from worldly and sinful practices. A Christian should seek to live a life that is clean, holy, and above reproach. He/she should exhibit both attitude and actions so as to be of good report. Practices which are questionable, which may cause another person to stumble, or which may harm the testimony of Christ and the Local New Testament Church should be avoided all together. (Scrip Ref: James 4:4, Romans 12:1-2; 2Corinthians 6:14-18; Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 1:27, 3:14-21, 4:8-9)

Civil Obedience: We believe that as Christians, we are to abide by the laws and civil ordinances set forth by the government. We are to obey all laws unless they are in conflict with the declarative teachings of the Word of God. We firmly believe in separation of Church and state and that our worship of God should not be hindered by governmental influences or governmental control of God’s institution (The Church). (Scrip Ref: Acts 5:29; Romans 13:1,7; 1Peter 2:13-17)

Rapture and Second Coming: We believe the “Blessed Hope” of our Lord’s return is literal, personal, visible, imminent, pre-millenial, and pre-tribulational. He will rapture the dead in Christ first, and then the living saints will be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air prior to the seven years of tribulation. At the end of the tribulation, Christ will return with His saints to establish His thousand-year reign on earth. (Scrip Ref: Psalm 89:3-4; Zechariah 14:4-11; 1Thessalonians 1:10; 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19: 11-16, 20: 1-6).
